“Education is the great engine of personal development.”

-Nelson Mandela

They are Stuck...

This issue of illiteracy is a lot more complicated than what meets the eye. Seven out of ten countries face a

significant shortage of teachers, and one of the reasons for this in developing countries is a vicious circle. Children

cannot receive an education from teachers; therefore the children cannot grow up to become teachers to give an

education to children. This is an issue that can only be resolved through outside help, and without it, this problem will

only get worse. As the population increases, if these countries cannot produce enough teachers to meet the educational

demands, an even higher percentage of children will be uneducated. People in economically struggling countries

believe that they cannot change their situation, simply because they don’t know how, but education can

brings the independence and change that so desperately needs to happen.

The Bible Says...

"Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord,

and he will repay him for his deed."

Proverbs 19:17 (NIV)

As Christians we are called to help those in need, blessing children

with an education is blessing them with the opportunity

and resources to achieve and grow.
